In September 2009 Jun.-Prof. Dr. Thorsten Grosch was newly appointed to the junior professorship in Computational Visualistics. The main focus of the chair is global illumination in computer graphics, i.e. the photo realistic image synthesis of three dimensional scenes. This physically correct simulation of light is useful in many applications in the virtual and augmented reality.
